Building the Bud Light House

frat boys - avert you're eyes, as amazing as this feat is it involves the dumping of countless cases of beer...you were warned.

as an art department girl i just love this stuff, a project where each step is a new problem to solve with a skill that you will probably never need again - but it looks so good, doesn't it?

Fallen Princesses from Dina Goldstein

By the time most modern woman are in their mid-twenties we get it, Prince Charming isn't coming. But for whatever reason it takes a few years of heart-ache and romantic abuse for the Fairy Tale Myths to be truly defunct.Photographer Dina Goldstein does a fabulous job at illustrating these could be real world Fairy Tale Princesses. I think my favorite is the Snow White scene. It may be one of the less extreme scenarios but the reality of the set up reminds me of Philip Lorca DiCorcica, Tierney Gearon, or other photographers that play with a balance of reality and orchestrated situations to heighten the most relevant elements and to estabish a strong overall mood.

Tim Burton Does Alice in Wonderland 2010

Sixty Years after the Disney animated feature I was obsessed with as a child, one of my favorite director takes on the classic story of Alice in Wonderland. Granted the story has been told countless times, with numerous film, tv, stage, live action and animated versions, this new interpretation is highly anticipated. The director that has brought us Edward Scissor Hands, Beetle Juice, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and countless other darkly twisted tales is sure to bring out the underbelly of the fantasy story. I imagine it much more like the live action version where the scary monster comes through the looking glass than the technicolor disney joyride. Today the first glimpses hit the web - enjoy!

Ray-Ban Showcases the Full Spectrum

Not only will the sun be bright this summer but Ray-Ban will be casting their own glow with a range of colored shades to choose from. The new campaign from Cutwater paints a pretty accurate picture. (sorry for all the puns, it just seemed right...)

Lexus Inspires the Masters

Or is it inspired by the masters? Either way this campaign from Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore would like you to think that a Lexus is a work of art...

Read Rolling Stone While You Still Can

Rolling Stone magazine in Argentina launched this ad campaign at the end of the year warning - that you should 'Read Rolling Stone While You Are Still Interested.'

The three spots, styled and appropriately titled, Yellow, Light Blue, and my personal favorite Purple, are off beat, unreal, and very well executed.

Doesn't the sweater remind you a bit of the Nantucket Tea Party Viral?

New York Department Store's Holiday Windows 2008

As a former Production Designer and Set Decorator my absolute dream job would be to design store fronts in New York. Every year the biggest retailers outdo themselves with magical, otherworldy, and completely awesome vignettes.

Each store has a unique theme that is always fitting to the brand itself. This year, Barney's celebrates the anniversary of the peace sign with a hippy trippy display right out of the 60's. Sak's Fifth Avenue's display is a snowflake story book adventure, Macy's is a bright and colorful futuristic toy store, and Lord and Taylor's is a nod to traditions in an elaborate Christmas scene. The Bloomingdales scenes look like they were ripped from the 60's ad campaigns from Mad Men, and Bergdorf Goodman is an eerie but elegant winter scene with intricate white details and woodland creatures.

New Hand Made Photos From Impactist

Impactist was one of the first inspirations I wrote about on this blog. It was a happy accident that I stumbled upon their website full of film, photography, animation and music, all with the hand crafted signature of duo Kelly Meador and Daniel Elwing.

Impactist has recently updated their portfolio with a new album, animated promos and my personal favorite these new photos from a collection called paper. I love this so much, to hand cut and assemble these patterns with paper and then photograph them so we are asked to take a closer look. I think it's really special and of course - inspiring.

Mastercard Shop Full of Laughs, Hugs, and Smiles

I know, they play this spot all of the time, but it's so sweet, isn't it? I love the knitted hug box, and the magical visual representations that were giving to each of these intangible items. Wouldn't you love to walk into a shop that was art directed like that?

Wish you had a hug of your own? Here is a crafter that makes them, how cute are they?!

Alan Aldridge Man with the Kaliedoscope Eyes

Illustrator Alan Aldridge has a new show at the London Design Museum that opened on Friday. Aldridge is known for his psychedelic work with The Who, The Beatles, Elton John, Andy Warhol, Penguin Books and more - which made him an icon of the 1960's and 70s.
