Awesome movie intro: it's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World

This simple line drawn 2d animated intro is about as inspiring as it can get, in my eyes. The number of scenarios imagined out of a globe, or circle, or egg, is really impressive and entertaining - it just goes to show that a great idea really goes a long way. You can see such great title sequences as Catch Me if You Can and Anatomy of a Murder all echoing the style cues from this gem.

yU+co: Cirque du Freak Opening Titles

If you don't know yU+co chances are you do know their work. yU+co is a design company responsible for some of the most memorable title design in television and film, including Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, 27 Dresses and The Day the earth Stood Still, AND also happen to have one of the coolest websites it the biz.

Their latest project for Cirque du Freak combines some of my favorite things at the moment, animation, silhouette, and a cut paper aesthetic.

Bored to Death's Animated Intro

Did you catch the premiere of HBO's Bored to Death on Sunday? The new show featuring Jason Schwartzman (i know not in a Wes Anderson flick) and Ted Danson starts out with an animated intro that is an illustration and literary blend - i like it. The opening titles and the show. Check it out.

Two of my favorites combined for the Tree House of Horror XIX when The Simpsons presented their take on the Emmy Award winning Mad Men intro.

2008 NBA Finals Intro

It seems that if the Red Sox don't give me a heart attack the Celtics just might...all games aside the 2008 ABC NBA Finals Intro is pretty amazing. If anyone knows who directed the spot please let me know!
