BMW and the Art of Driving

Director Jake Scott and RSA Films recently got a hold of one pricey paintbrush. They used the BMW Z4 to 'paint' a huge mural, knocking on the implied connection between BMW and artists, The Art of Driving.

2009 LA Tap Project

TBWA\Chiat\Day has launched a print campaign for this year's LA Tap Project. The ads play on the same bright and retro hand drawn style as last year's video to call out to the community to make a small change but be a big help to those in the world without water.

Death Cab for Cutie "Grapevine Fires" from Walter Robot Studios

I am a big Death Cab for Cutie fan, and love their thoughtful and creative video pairings. Their latest video, Grapevine Fires, does not disappoint. The animation style holds a sort of innocence and adolescence that is well paired with such a solemn song...

General Mills Cereal Brings Back Retro Packaging*

* for a limited time

GM shows off it's origins with box art from the archives at Target stores nationwide for Cocoa Puffs, Trix, and Lucky Charms.

The vintage illustrations are also available as t-shirt designs, and I have to say are quite cute. Don't you love the handwritten look of the General Mills logo?

The Haunting in Connecticut -Motion Poster

The coolest piece of movie marketing I've seen in while has to be this motion poster for The Haunting in Connecticut. It's affective, very very creepy, and accessible, as it lives its life embedded in web pages. Horror films always do the coolest marketing stunts don't they? Remember before The Ring came out and hundreds of unsuspecting concert goers in LA found vhs tapes on their windshields that they later discovered were the same unwatchable tape from the film? So good.check out the motion poster here.

Karni and Saul Let Flogging Molly Float

The latest from Flogging Molly and Animation/Directing team Karni & Saul is a dark journey for 'Float.' The sullen animated video tells the story of a dingy Q-Tip-man acquiring the best or worst of his surroundings throughout his life as parts of his physical being to keep afloat.

Rodchenko and Popova: Constructivisim at The Tate Modern

The art of the Russian revolution is on display at the Tate Modern, featuring advertising, painting, textiles, and graphic design of Lyubov Popova and Alexander Rodchenko among others. I love the minimal use of color, the presence of black, and the graphic nature of the written Russian language in concert with the imagery.

From the Tate: The Russian Revolution was accompanied by a remarkable period of artistic experiment known as Constructivism, which questioned the fundamental properties of art and asked what its place should be in a new society. The Constructivists challenged the idea of the work of art as a unique commodity, explored more collective ways of working, and looked at how they could contribute to everyday life through design, architecture, industrial production, theatre and film.
