Flaming Lips Animated Fight Test from Ka-chew!

I'm missing LA today and thinking of driving and listening to the Flaming Lips with the windows down.

These animated videos are from director Sean Nadeau of Ka-Chew!

Amy Martin Time Travel Posters

How cool are these posters from the future by LA artist Amy Matrin? I love the nautilus shell and the overall clean graphic look. I think they could live in effortless unison with WPA Vintage Parks Posters, maybe I need to redecorate?Check out Poster District for more info about the artist, how to buy, and the charity the proceeds support.

Attack of the Hammer Pants

The first thought that came to mind when i saw this viral/stunt was...why am i never around when these things go down? I think this arena of advertising must make the day of anyone who witnesses and I'm just waiting for some savvy Creative to bring some unexpected commercial happiness into my day!

Hello - a troop of Gold Hammer Pants wearing Hammer Time Dancers bomb a hipster jean store?! Hilarious!

This creative advertisement came from director Marc Klasfeld for the new A&E show Hammertime.

2009 LA Tap Project

TBWA\Chiat\Day has launched a print campaign for this year's LA Tap Project. The ads play on the same bright and retro hand drawn style as last year's video to call out to the community to make a small change but be a big help to those in the world without water.

The Getty Center, Can't get it Out of Your Head

Oh The Getty Center, now that is a part of LA I truly miss. The gardens, the architecture, and of course the art - and all a free gift to the city of Los Angeles.

Director Peter Martin from Sleeper Film's illustrates so literally, and creatively that the things you see at The Getty really stay with you.

The "Getty Heads" remind me of one of my other favorite recent campaigns, the Vespa Heads.

Lost Red Socks in LA's Laundromats

Advertising agency Ground Zero went guerrilla and within 24 hours of the news that our once beloved Manny Ramirez was moving to L.A. laundromats throughout the Los Angeles area were sprinkled with lost red socks. The sentiment was welcoming him to the City of Angels on behalf of ESPN and The Dodgers...

It doesn't hurt quite so bad since Jason Bay has been hitting so well... and if Manny cuts his hair I'll forget it all together...but it does evoke a knee jerk reaction along the lines of "yeah well..., well..., I hope it turned your underwear pink..."

Adidas Left Right Project

Adidas Originals has produced a new spectacle to celebrate the Classic Superstar. They created enormous replicas of the shoes and had two art collaboratives, one on the East Coast, one on the West, customize their shoe and then meet face to face in Venice Beach to show off their work.

Surface to Air
NY took on the Right Side and Upper Playground took on the Left.

Check out the video of the process.

Reebok and Kool-Aid @ Sportie LA

I'm in LA for work, having an event tonight so not much time to write. Sportie L.A. had another hopping Sneaker Party last night to celebrate the new Kool-Aid line of Reeboks...good times, good jams, and lots of nice kicks.

UNICEF Tap Project: Los Angeles

This spot is showing up in all the trades and I just think it's really sweet. I love the simple, cheery animation and I really love the song.

The spot comes via TBWA/Chiat/Day Los Angeles. The song is performed by artist Joey Ryan.

The Tap Project has invited restaurants in LA to ask customers to donate $1 for their glass of tap water March 16-22. The proceeds will provide clean drinking water for those that are not so fortunate.

Mountain Dew Living Art

I'm loving this spot for Mountain Dew directed by Matt Aselton of Epoch Films. Most of the advertising trades have mentioned it in some capacity, it's a pretty cool spot oozing with style, which of course is the point. Mountain Dew has commissioned a handful of artists to design limited edition bottles, all with the graffiti, x-games style that it's demographic should love.

What I enjoyed most is the website that showcases the art and design of the wraps, there are series of videos with artists in their studios showing off their sketch books and their own creative process. Definitely worth a look. greenlabelart.com

(artists left to right) Chuck Anderson, Dez, Troy Denning

Green label Art also has a YouTube page where all of the videos, including the commercial can be viewed.

L.A. Marathon and Bike Tour

Creativity-Online is featuring these print ads for the March 2, 2008 L.A. Marathon and Bike Tour. The series of posters feature a selection of L.A.'s hoods; Griffith Park, Hollywood, Westside, even LAX, and Freeways chanting to ride or run on.

I love the illustration style, it sort of reminds me of the cheese wheel commercial from when i was a kid...
The illustrations were done by Andy Mueller via agency Rubin Postaer & Associates.

You can view the entire campaign on Creativity here.
