Saturday Night Live Take a Cue From Mad Men

I caught some of last Saturday's SNL with January Jones (Betty Draper) as the host. I felt some of it fell short but this sketch of A Ladies Guide to Party Planning is everything ridiculous i love about housewives, cookbooks, and etiquette from the 50's and 60's.

United Breaks Guitars

Almost 3 Million hits in a week, something's gotta be speaking to the people.

As a traveler with personal experience watching an airline throw and break Mike's guitar, only to later tell him they don't cover damage to "sound making devices" I can't help but love the sweet revenge being taken by Dave Carroll and the Sons of Maxwell - scream it from the mountain tops - United Breaks Guitars!

Devendra Banhart and Natalie Portman Summon Baliwood for Carmencita

The color, melodrama, and special effects of this video are so over the top and kitsch I absolutely love it. I also really love the jump cuts-even the subtitles themselves are extremely entertaining.

The directing team, Skinny is responsible creating this bit of gilded goodness.

Missing Pieces by Samah Tokmachi

A dear friend of mine, Samah Tokmachi, has a short film that is a semi-finalist in the Now Film Festival. Missing Pieces, a comedy, is now appearing on MySpace where Samah needs feedback to help the film get off the web and into the Now Film Fest that will be screening in Los Angeles.

If you need more of a hook before you go watch it and vote for it, the word testicles appears in it more than a dozen times and it stars Rainn Wilson ( The Office, Six Feet Under.) A little star power never hurts anyone.

You can watch the film here but please - give it a thumbs up on Myspace...
