growing graffiti

whose on a kick? yep. green, living, growing, graffiti in the streets of Brooklyn from artist Edina Tokodi. She has taken urban gardening and environmental graffiti to a whole new place (and not without a message or a sense of humor.) see for yourself, the juxtaposition of the moss illustrations and the streetscape is amazing.

snow graffiti?

I've been slow in the starting blocks with my first post of 2010, I'm still kinda feeling stuck in the holidays - and also a little bored with the commercial work I've been seeing, so i thought - why not go with it and look into something wintery?With that in mind i started thinking about reverse graffiti and wondering if any of these great street artists take advantage of their frozen surroundings to create some temporary snow or ice graffiti. Though i didnt find the snow masterpieces i was secretly hoping existed i did find some evidence of snow graffiti...anyone have any evidence of snow graffiti? please send it my way!

PublicAdCampaign Takes Back the Space

An unaffiliated group takes it upon themselves to reclaim over a hundred illegal advertising spaces in New York City. It seems there are a large number of billboard advertisers that cover billboard and building space without permits. PublicAdCampaign covers and re purposes a larger percent of the illegal postings with public art, the result a slightly less ad filled air space, and only 4 arrests.

Animation Street Art Combo

Follow up project from Blu and David Ellis. Once again, amazing. The two use every inch of a ratty old court yard, and even the sweeping of the sun to add to the overall story, journey really, of the piece. I love the movement in and out and around the windows. check it out.
