Billboards Come to Life with the Help of Olympus and Seeded by The Viral Factory

Billboard Ads come to life - your worst nightmare? Remember that Simpsons's Tree House of Horror when all of the advertising Icons were destroying the city? (just dont look- just dont look)

Well this is a lot less scary. A follow up to "The PEN Story" one year later - and super sized created from a series of stills blown up and photographed again in their surroundings with the PEN camera creating a new stop motion adventure.

for those of you interested in the origins of the story here ya go!

The Fun Theory from VW

Musical Staircase, sidewalk video game, bottomless trash cans - sounds like Disney World doesn't it? It's actually an experiment to change societies habits for the better through fun via The Fun Theory an initiative from VW. I associate it with making a song in order to remember your Social Studies homework or Mary Poppins making a game out of cleaning your bedroom. Check it out.

PublicAdCampaign Takes Back the Space

An unaffiliated group takes it upon themselves to reclaim over a hundred illegal advertising spaces in New York City. It seems there are a large number of billboard advertisers that cover billboard and building space without permits. PublicAdCampaign covers and re purposes a larger percent of the illegal postings with public art, the result a slightly less ad filled air space, and only 4 arrests.

Amex Finds Smiling Faces in Everyday Objetcs

American Express launched a new campaign recently, "Don't Take Chances, Take Charge." I caught the spot on the NFL opening light last week and of course fell in love with the simple and creative use of the faces found out and about in our world. The campaign included a slew of full page adds in papers across the country. Cute huh?

for kicks, here's a fabulous flickr collection of faces on everyday objects.

Attack of the Hammer Pants

The first thought that came to mind when i saw this viral/stunt was...why am i never around when these things go down? I think this arena of advertising must make the day of anyone who witnesses and I'm just waiting for some savvy Creative to bring some unexpected commercial happiness into my day!

Hello - a troop of Gold Hammer Pants wearing Hammer Time Dancers bomb a hipster jean store?! Hilarious!

This creative advertisement came from director Marc Klasfeld for the new A&E show Hammertime.

Zappos.com Perfect Airport Ad Placement

Nowadays most of our airport time is not spent sitting at the gate, but in the security check, right? It's cool, we're all used to it, and it's just part of the routine.

If you've flown out of LAX lately you might have noticed some smart advertisement placement in those security bins when you unload your laptop, baggie of toiletries, shoes, belts and pocket change. Zappos.com speaks directly to us and the exact moment we are experiencing. I couldn't help but notice and chuckle, I did wear good socks today, but what was i thinking with the boots? Talk about making an awkward transition even worse, "excuse me sir can i lean on you while i unzip these puppies?"

This smart move was courtesy of New York Ad Agency The Ad Store.

Joshua Allen Harris's Street Art for the Environmental Defense Fund

The viral quality of Joshua Allen Harris's inflatable street art has attracted a brand. The Environmental Defense Fund uses video of Harris's Polar Bears to help raise awareness about global warming and draw attention to the mode of transportation available beneath the city.

Harris's creatures circled the blogosphere a few months back when camera phone videos captured piles of garbage as they transformed into dancing animals and monsters when the subway system below the New York streets created enough wind to breathe life into them. I love the fantasy and playfulness that the art project brings into seemingly unremarkable New York scenes and an otherwise normal day in the life of a passerby. Hopefully this brand pairing will not only capture people's attention but also send a message that they will share.

Lost Red Socks in LA's Laundromats

Advertising agency Ground Zero went guerrilla and within 24 hours of the news that our once beloved Manny Ramirez was moving to L.A. laundromats throughout the Los Angeles area were sprinkled with lost red socks. The sentiment was welcoming him to the City of Angels on behalf of ESPN and The Dodgers...

It doesn't hurt quite so bad since Jason Bay has been hitting so well... and if Manny cuts his hair I'll forget it all together...but it does evoke a knee jerk reaction along the lines of "yeah well..., well..., I hope it turned your underwear pink..."
