Ray Ban Never Hide Booth Remix

Ok, so I'm a little slow on the uptake on this one, the Never Hide Booth was actually set up by Ray Ban during the SXSW festival this June. But how cool is this mix? Squeak E. Clean & Rossangeles mixed the audio from the booth together to make a song - love it!

I think it's super cool....and just because I feel like it, here is the viral sensation that is a couple years old now, the Ray Ban Sunglasses Face Catch. Enjoy!

Typography and Toyota

To promote Toyota and type design (OK just Toyota,) Toyota Belgium, pleaseletmedesign, interactive artist Zachary Lieberman, and professional driver Stef van Campenhoudt created a font - yep - with a car. It's called iQ.
Cool right? The font it's self is pretty, but the colorful digital tracks of the tires are beautiful. Check out the making of below..and download the font for yourself here!

HBO Voyeur Project

Motionographer has a fantastic post featuring building projections up. It's a must check out. They are focusing on projects that use the existing architecture as an integral part of the projection, windows look like buttons, a castle deconstructs a la the Escher staircases in Labyrinth, is that a helicopter coming in for a landing? I love the combination of old and new to create unique and complex art pieces.

One of my favorite projection projects immediately came to mind as I was watching this collection, the HBO Voyeur project. In 2008 HBO created a projection installation on an apartment building in New York. The projection was a peek inside eight different apartment buildings, each with their own storylines to provoke the idea of what people do when they think no one is watching. The integrated project drove traffic to a wbsite where each story could be viewed in full and once at a time.

The integrated project was completed by a superstar cast including BBDO, Jake Scott, and Asylum, and went on to win shelves full of awards, including the Cannes Grand Prix in 2008. You check out images from the stories via Flickr and check out the archived website to navagate the stories yourself.

Joshua Allen Harris's Street Art for the Environmental Defense Fund

The viral quality of Joshua Allen Harris's inflatable street art has attracted a brand. The Environmental Defense Fund uses video of Harris's Polar Bears to help raise awareness about global warming and draw attention to the mode of transportation available beneath the city.

Harris's creatures circled the blogosphere a few months back when camera phone videos captured piles of garbage as they transformed into dancing animals and monsters when the subway system below the New York streets created enough wind to breathe life into them. I love the fantasy and playfulness that the art project brings into seemingly unremarkable New York scenes and an otherwise normal day in the life of a passerby. Hopefully this brand pairing will not only capture people's attention but also send a message that they will share.

Lost Red Socks in LA's Laundromats

Advertising agency Ground Zero went guerrilla and within 24 hours of the news that our once beloved Manny Ramirez was moving to L.A. laundromats throughout the Los Angeles area were sprinkled with lost red socks. The sentiment was welcoming him to the City of Angels on behalf of ESPN and The Dodgers...

It doesn't hurt quite so bad since Jason Bay has been hitting so well... and if Manny cuts his hair I'll forget it all together...but it does evoke a knee jerk reaction along the lines of "yeah well..., well..., I hope it turned your underwear pink..."

Shark Sighting on The Charles

No, they aren't shooting the next installment of Jaws, the shark attack mania comes from the Mullen Agency for the Sharks and Rays Exhibit at the New England Aquarium which opened yesterday.

The campaign features shark fins and teeth on iconic Boston landmarks, and fins on the roof of taxis to be seen as they navigate through city traffic.

There is one poster that shows a man struggling to levitate only feet above a fin, and also a viral that taps into the universal fears we all have for the signifier of the beast. Smart I think, and affective. The exhibit itself hopes to alleviate some of these exact fears.

I wanna be a Vespa...

Ok, i really just want a Vespa...really really want one...so what if it snows 5 months out of the year here, it snows that much in Canada or more and look how much they love them. I found this over at Adrants. Dentsu Canada created Vespa heads, via Fauxreel, to hang out with the locals in Canada's biggest cities.

You Suck Sarah Marshall

When I was in New York last week I couldn't help but notice the posters splattering the city to promote the new film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I think they are pretty great, eye catching and funny, "My Mom Always Hated you Sarah Marshall" is one of my favorites.Of course there is a website in the style of a blog for the film, ihatesarahmarshall. And, what I though was quite smart, a flickr page where people can share their photos of the campaign.

Wristband Advertising

I had the pleasure of going to a show this weekend, ( Matt Costa and he was great in case you're wondering) and was surprised to see the accessory of the evening, the wristbands that separated me from the youngans, were more colorful than normal.

The sticky arm band doubled as an advertisement for FX's series Dirt. The graphics are pretty cute, and I do see the appeal of branding the wrists of club goers for the night or the weekend, or however long the average person keeps their band on for, but it got me thinking about the demographic and how the advertiser chose the venue.Being a socially active twenty something in LA and Boston, I've seen plenty of hand stamp advertising but I think this is the first wristband that didn't just advertise the event or club I was attending. Normally its a cosponsor, a liquor label, or the club name if its not a black X or a crappy smiley face on the back of your hand, right?

On aesthetics alone I like it. The comic book colors and styling are fun but I was at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. The clientèle doesn't scream Courtney Cox to me. How did they come up with that?

I thought maybe they were coating the city and it was a generic thing without too much thought, then I realized it was a specifically printed Paradise Club bracelet. Hmmm. Lets look at the schedule and see who's playing this month...

Sia, Slightly Stoopid, Pete Francis, and then the yearly return of The Dropkick Murphy's. I dunno, maybe I need to watch the show before I judge, do you think it's a match?
